~ Data Warehouse Project Management: The Key Issues

This course presents the key issues that data warehouse project managers will be facing. Participants will learn about the different development approach, changed roles and responsibilities, the necessary organizational culture shift which occurs on data warehouse projects, and other key issues. Through exercises and team interactions, students will leave with the ability to tighten up the management of their own data warehouse projects, and with the techniques to recognize and minimize the risk of failure.

~ Data Analysis and Data Modeling for the Data Warehouse

This course addresses the key data management issues that have lead to data warehousing. Participants will learn the technique of Entity-Relationship modeling, commenly referred to as logical data modeling. Applying this technique will ensure that the data in the data warehouse will be correct, consistent, understood and shared. Students will leave with the understanding of how their logical data model will be used for Data Warehouse database design.

~ Data Warehouse Audit and Security

In this course participants will learn how the data warehouse architecture differs from an operational architecture, how the approach and methodology for developing a data warehouse differs from an operational system, and how audit, control, and security issues impact the data warehouse environment. Particular emphasis is placed on practical audit, control and security challenges surrounding the unique features and issues of data warehouses, such as the iterative nature of development, scope containment, managing expectations, infrastructure, project reviews, data integration issues, data access needs, measuring user satisfaction and determining ROI.
